About

Hello, my name is Sam. Welcome to my slice of the Web!

I’m a freelance Game Developer Consultant.

Most recent work I can talk about is on Dragonhold. You can read more about it here.

My main focuses are in programming and design. I’ve worked professionally in various sub-disciplines of engine/gameplay programming, including multiplayer, audio, animation, and much more! I also have professional game design experience. You could say I’m a generalist game programmer/designer.

I used to do some blogging about game development but these days I’m mostly on Mastodon for better or worse.

This website is statically generated with a theme that’s lovingly hand-typed from scratch.1

I appreciate simplicity in all things. Not a fan of dogma. I’m of the opinion that there’s no One Right Way of doing anything.2

Here are some other places you can find me.

  1. I’m told it looks like a website from the 90s, but in a good way. I want to believe that.

  2. I’m very much about encouraging everyone to go “back to basics” in a way. Official nomenclature is “Futurist” but I think the manifesto is little too hardline/specific for my liking, and also sounds pretentious. I prefer “anti-dogmatic” as an encompassing concept. I happen to love that Alastair Cockburn, an original signatory of The Agile Manifesto, acknowledged that Agile is not the right choice for every team and project. Context matters!!! He initiated the Oath of Non-Allegiance to fill the guidance gap.
